WHICH WAY MT KENYA REGION?

Image
For the first time in KENYA'S political history , the GEMA nation has found itself in a catch-22 situation. This is after the Mt Kenya region residents revolted against their very own political kingpin Uhuru Kenyatta. They loathed and sneered them after he rallied them to join the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party whose presidential candidate was Raila Odinga. To them , they had other options but not that. Inorder to teach him a political lesson, they pulled an emotional and feelings cards. They charged themselves in a manner the Ikolomani bulls are charged before a mega fight. They decided to riot in the ballot to vote in Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto not because they loved him but because he was the only person they would use to punish Former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Fact!! Mission accomplished. They succeeded but the question is what next? They consoled themselves by telling us ,they have their own son who is holding the second most...

IT IS AFRICANS WHO WILL BATTLING AGAINST EACH OTHER IN QATAR.

Image
T he curtains are about to open in Qatar for the World's best football bonanza. The World Cup where , 32 teams will be battling out for the most coveted prize. Fans too will be gracing the events despite the many moral rules that have been erected by the Islamic republic of Qatar. It is this rules that many across the World view it will erode the fanfare and mojo that comes along with this football tournament that happens in every four years. It is the first World Cup to be staged in the middle East. It is said that , the then FIFA President Sepp Blatter and his contingent in were bribed inorder to give the Qatar bid to host the 2022 World Cup. From his end just the other day , he owned the responsibility that , giving Qatar bid to his this World Cup was the worst mistake. Reasons , they are better known to him but fans across the globe understands why? What is most interesting is , in the World stage, Africans will be playing against each other. So far , African continent ...

HOW CLASS WARS FORMENTED THE LAWLESSNESS WE AEE GRAPPLING WITH NOW?

Image
T he worst form of conflict in any society and both traditional and modern sociologists like Karl Marx , Max Weber, Ervin Goffman , Emile Durkheim , Veblen etc will tell you , it is class wars. The have and the have nots. Marx in his conflict theories postulates a conflict and a revolution that the hoi polloi ( proletariat) vowed to wage against the bourgeoisies ( owners of capital) for mistreating them and enjoying life with a big spoon at their expense. All this is necessitated by the capitalist thinking and reasoning that Karl Marx, 200 years back predicted that , it will be overthrown by the proletariats and replaced with socialism inorder to have a just and equatable society. What Marx from wherever he is didn't know is , even those socialist states today, they are at an alarming rate being assimilated into capitalism. China , Cuba, Russia etc are being slowly adapting capitalism mentality and mannerisms. The conflict between the rich and the poor isn't ending soon. The ...

HOW PERVERSE INCENTIVES IS A POISON CHALICE TO A COUNTRY'S ECONOMY?

Image
I f you wonder why , most African States are poor yet they are endowed with more resources that are enough to alleviate their people from abject poverty and untold and ravaging hunger and poverty is because , with all this resources at their disposal , they lack goodwill and plan. To them , they don't understand what is economic development and economic growth. To them , the two are one and the same thing and to the few who see there is a difference , they define the two terms interchangeably. With a pool of policy makers , the continent just comes up with cosmetic solutions to the problems facing them since , poverty in Africa is commodified and a political fodder for the political elites to continue dominating their hoi polloi masses so as to continue enjoying the state largesse with no iota of shame and mercy. Inorder to show that they care for their people , they always come up with perverse incentives as their number one economic policies and stimulus. For starters , a perve...

WHICH WAY , EAST OR WEST?

Image
S ince independence , Kenya has has shaped its foreign policy in either West or East. By West, I mean USA and Western European countries and majority of this are democracies and are staunch followers of the laissez faire economics. That is , they are purely capitalists. East represents countries like Russia , China , Japan etc. Majority of them are communists and autocratic and authoritarian regimes save for Japan. When Kenya got independence in 12th December, 1963 and one year later became a republic under the late founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta , Kenya found itself in a catch 22 situation. Kenyatta had two close allies from the lake region who were holding brief for both US and USSR. This were his Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his Economic planning minister Tom Mboya. Oginga was pro- USSR and Mboya was pro-US.  Kenyatta found himself entangled in this issue and though he had spent a considerable number of years in UK , he was easily lured by the British gov...

IS IT AN ACT OF CONFUSION OR JUST AN ACT OF EXCITEMENT FOR TASTING POWER?

Image
T he cabinet meeting that took place between President Ruto, his Deputy President and the cabinet secretaries was necessary and took place at the right time. Yes!!! It was necessary because , we cannot have a goverment that is behaving like an adolescent struggling with identity crisis. By this I mean , a goverment which is making serious policy directives in a haphazard manner. The roadside declarations a section of the cabinet secretaries have been making off late depicts of leaders who are still fixated in campaign mood and haven't let go and realize they are in the government and should behave as so. Running a goverment isn't akin to running a campaign secretariat or a church choir , it takes more than that. Serious deliberations on all issues pertaining public policy should be handled with slot of care and professionalism. Communication should be at its best but not giving misinformation, disinformation and propaganda like communiques. That's not how a serious goverm...

IS OUR DEMOCRACY IN THE ALTAR READY FOR SLAUGHTER?

Image
W hen I first saw this excerpt of the daily newspaper , it thought it was a pun until I saw it trending like bush fire in both Zuckerberg and Musk streets. It is a debate that had elicited alot of emotions and anger from Kenyans. The kind of heat it has generated is enough to be added into the national grid and save jenyans from paying huge electricity bills. KENYA is a democracy and any person coming up with the notion of removing the presidential limits which the 2010 constitution gave us is mentally ill. But wait, was the Fafi Constituency Legislator under the influence of alcohol or any substance that could have altered his sober mind? I don't think so , he was absolutely in his good state of mind. Again , could he have uttered such statements from an utopian point of view? Your guess is good as mine. He is just am innocent messenger who decided to take a bullet on behalf of his UDA party and its honchos who are now vowing to take stern disciplinary actions against him for spea...

WHY I AM FEARING FOR OUR KDF IN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.

Image
J ust the other day , President William Ruto flagged off a contingent of Kenya Defence Forces (KDFs) to DRM stabilization mission under the banner of East Africa Community Regional Force (EACRF). The reason why Kenya is contributing our forces there is because, DRC is the new member of the EAC block. For decades , that mineral rich Nation has been facing political instability and militia groups in the Eastern region of the North Kivu and Goma regions. This is where rebe movements have created a haven and bastion of conducting their businesses of mining lucrative minerals such as diamonds, copper , coltan etc. This is a region where , women and children and also men have lost their lives , inflicted with severe injuries meted on them by militia through bullets , machetes and rape. It is one of the most dangerous places to live in this World. The topography favours this rebels who have overwhelmed the DRC military forces. The place is mountainous and the Equitorial forest covers mi...
