WHICH WAY MT KENYA REGION?

 For the first time in KENYA'S political history , the GEMA nation has found itself in a catch-22 situation. This is after the Mt Kenya region residents revolted against their very own political kingpin Uhuru Kenyatta. They loathed and sneered them after he rallied them to join the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party whose presidential candidate was Raila Odinga. To them , they had other options but not that. Inorder to teach him a political lesson, they pulled an emotional and feelings cards. They charged themselves in a manner the Ikolomani bulls are charged before a mega fight. They decided to riot in the ballot to vote in Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto not because they loved him but because he was the only person they would use to punish Former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Fact!! Mission accomplished. They succeeded but the question is what next? They consoled themselves by telling us ,they have their own son who is holding the second most powerful office in the land. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Last week , Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga blown the wind that exposed the cocks anus. This is after he opined that , there is a section of political functionaries in President Ruto inner circle who are in a spirited quest to undermine Mt Kenya region inside that Kenya Kwanza goverment. He said so after the lineup for EALA nominees who were to be voted inside the floor of the National Assembly ommitted their sons. It is through those mischievous tricks that , the Mt Kenya region caucus in the house voted for Kanini Kega (Jubilee Party) and Maina Karobia (UDA) for EALA to the detriment of the State House proposed lineup. Governor Kahiga intimated that , what happened during that exercise was a signal that , Mt Kenya region political elites and residents irrespective of their political outfits must rally behind Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua being the senior most politician we have from this region currently.

So far , the region is in a wait and see mode. They don't know what next after rebelling against former President Uhuru Kenyatta who was the regions political kingpin. To be a political kingpin in GEMA nation , you must do something that the community will certified as brave and towards the community's interests. It started with Jomo Kenyatta , Stanley Matiba , Mwai Kibaki and finally UHURU KENYATTA. For Gachagua , he must stand out to undertake something that will convince the community to rally behind him. Being the Deputy President now isn't enough to convince the community to rally behind him. The reason is , there has been simmering tension between the political elites of Kabete ( Kiambu) , Metumi (Mūrang'a) and Rware ( Nyeri). In 2010 , after the ocampo 6 list was made public and the then Deputy Prime minister , finance minister and Gatundu South Legislator Uhuru Kenyatta was part of it , the community rallied behind him. They vowed whatever may , they will accompany him in the Hague and if found guilty, they will be with him in Guatanamo bay or Robben islands prison.

The GEMA nation declared in one voice, irrespective of whether one hails from Nyeri, Mūrang'a, Meru , Kiambu etc. The very people who coronated Uhuru as their kingpin are the same ones, who chidded and loathed him and with emotions told him off. Today , the community is direction less politically. But let's ask ourselves where did the rain started beating us? During the presidential campaigns , a section of the Mt Kenya region political elites , in broad daylight witnessed when UDA party leader William Ruto declared himself the new Mt Kenya region political kingpin. To my shock , the likes of Rigathi Gachagua were present clapping. Surely , how can people who christened themselves sons of Mau Mau allow a stranger declare himself as the leader of their community when there is one already? What if General China, kago , Dedan Kimathi among other heroes of Mau Mau allowed Frederick Lugard , Malcolm Macdonald and other British colonial officials to declare themselves as Mt Kenya region kingpins? When they had annexed our ithaka( land) to farm and confine the owners to be squatters and workers in their very own farms?

I have been asking this question , why is DP Gachagua in a mission to start a political war with his boss in as far as who is the legitimate political kingpin of Mt Kenya region? When Ruto assumed those roles , they were present and event graced him to take those roles. They even coronated him official and wore him the regalia which are official for the muthamaki( leader) of the community. So far , Ruto is both the political kingpin of Kalenjin and GEMA nation if nothing has changed and I don't see it changing very soon. Another question is , will President Ruto stay cosy to wait and see his ambitious DP execute a political mission that will leave him politically vulnerable? Ruto knows very well that , the populus Mt Kenya region votes are a cog to his stay in the State House. How then can he allow Rigathi to wrestle the community from him? He will dehorn him first before he is dehorned. The statements from Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga weren't his personal opinion. It is just a smoke about to billow in many parts of Mt Kenya region. The mission is to bring the region under Gachagua's fold. With that , come 2027 , Ruto will have to pass through his Deputy inorder to reach the mountain. I see and smell a bitter divorce between the two and the bone of contention is the 8 Million voters from this populous Mt Kenya region.

I maybe right or wrong but the fact is , you cannot take forcefully something you gave in both hands. Gachagua and his fellow UDA functionaries in Mt Kenya region declared President Ruto their kingpin and spokesperson. So , even in sharing the State and Government  plum jobs , why complain when your political kingpin gives you what he feels it is good with you? You shouldn't raise any complain. Just keep quiet upangwe? Choices have consequences and not to forget, word has it , Ruto maybe grooming this Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to be his numbers two come 2027. That's why , Ruto is in a mission to rope in Azimio la Umoja western Kenya battalion into his fold. To do this , Mudavadi is his point man. As for my Kenya region , Ruto will bring himself without using proxies just like he did from 2013 to August, 2022. No single Mt Kenya region politician who can come forward to brag that , it is because of their influence that Ruto became accepted in the region. Instead, it is him , through his UDA party that has made them. Which political demands can they give him? None. So , if I say he is the region's political kingpin even post 2022 , why dispute? Choices have consequences.
