ALL EYES ARE SET AT THE APEX COURT.

Image
K  enyans are glued to their television sets and others on their smart phones and desktop computers following the Supreme Court proceedings. If you move from one ridge to the other , one village to the other , one market to the other , one shopping centre to the other , in the makeshift vibandas and kiosks , the conversation has drastically changed from Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza Alliance to the heavy legal terms and complex lingual jargons being traded at the apex courts. The social media too is awash with misinformation, disinformation and Propaganda as both camps , Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza Alliance are pulling strings to themselves. That's why , innuendos and half baked truths are the fodder of the day in this Zuckerberg streets. They say a battle isn't won in the battle field but in the boardroom. And if you lose it , it is not accidental , it is a manifestation that, you have been winning. Losing and winning is a process just like an election is a process ...

THINGS FALL APART WHEN THE CENTRE CANNOT HOLD

Image
F or the last 3 weeks , the IEBC commissioners have treated Kenyans in very nauseating theatrics and circus. The circus are leaving us mouth agape because, the shocking revelations are making me to ask , is this a commission that is put in place by our constitution and funded by taxpayers money? Is this the function we tasked them as a Nation to perform? The commission is made up of 7 commissioners. As we speak , the chairman , Wafula Chebukati , Prof. Guliye and Boya Molu are leading one faction. The vice chairperson Juliana Cherera , Nyang'aya, Wanderi and Masit are leading another faction. The vice chairperson and the chairman aren't seeing one another eye to eye. The cracks between them are bigger than the Rift Valley. If they can accidentally meet in a dark corner the two of them , they can just go after each other jagular. The MV IEBC ship is sinking , ooops , no , I have already sank and the occupants , are in life saving jackets swimming to inorder to reach the coastl...

POLITICS OF VENGEANCE WILL ONLY DEGENERATE ANARCHISM.

Image
I t is only in Africa where politics are taken as if it is matter of life and death. Kenyans went to the ballot on 9th to elect their new leaders. It is a constitutional mandate that , every five years , the contract between the holders of political seats comes to an end and inorder to renew this contract, an election is held. Those holding this seats survive while there are those who don't see the light of the day. So far , the political climate in Kenya is very conducive even as Azimio la Umoja outfit have lodged a presidential petition at the supreme court. That's very healthy for any Country which classify ITSELF as a democracy. Fine!!! Kenya is a paragon of virtue in as far as democratic ideals are concerned. That's why , we don't want any leader who can be aspiring to take this Nation in those dark ages. The days of one party rule. An authoritarian and despotic Regime. In today's Daily Nation , the headline was heart breaking if what is there is the truth. T...

A PARTISAN REFEREE , ROGUE ELECTIONS ; DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS.

Image
T he electoral Commission IEBC oversaw the general elections on 9th August. In that Tuesday , Kenyans went to the ballot to elect their political leaders who , will transact the affairs of the government and State on their behave. By voting for them , they will enter into a social contract with them with will last for a period of 5 years. That's when , wanjiku will come knocking using emotions and feelings rather than looking whether , the leader she voted for has performed to her expectations. There are those who will spend 5 years and do absolutely nothing. This group will spend those years dealing with handouts. They must ensure they are well oiled financially. By doing that , they will only need to whip the emotions of the voters by aligning with the political climate that will be commanding. There is another group of political leaders , even after working for their electorates, they will be placed by the voter in the chopping board and will not survive. They will be sent into ...

WHY THE CHURCH HAS LOST IT ALL?

Image
T he church of late has found itself in the receiving end. It has auctioned the pulpit it should be protecting it , they have offered it to the political elites. Today , it is very difficult to know , which shepherd is genuinely leading the sheep to the light and the one leading them to the dark. Money laundering has now become rampant in churches. Those who have been in the front to propagate that vice is the clergy and a section of political elites. They organise for fictious projects and tag the cost too high. Since they know their congregants aren't in a position to raise it , their pastors/ vicars/ reverends/ Fathers organise for a church fundraise and invite leading politicians who inturn bring the monies in liquid form and not through cheque. If the real cost of the project is sh 2.5 Million , they will ensure that fundraise gets more than that amount. The church will take its share and the other , they give back to the politicians to engage in another business like that. ...

COUNTY ASSEMBLIES MUST JEALOUSLY DEFEND DEVOLUTION ; IT IS THEIR CARDINAL DUTY.

Image
K  enya has 47 Counties and with this comes along 47 County Assemblies. The devolution act in the 2010 constitution is the one that allowed the existence of the devolved units. So far , in some regions , devolution has become a yardstick of fighting poverty and many social and economic ills that bedevell the society. In others , it has become a curse. A blessing that instead of alleviating problems , social and economic , it has become a haven where , this ills are bred and croned to continue wrecking havoc and untold miseries to the residents of those Counties. All this things happen under the watch of the Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs). Also , the good will of the sitting Governor is also paramount and if it lacks , that County is led in a bandit way. Most Counties in Kenya have becomes avenues of devolving corruption , plundering and embezzlement of public funds. The exchequer through the Commission of Revenue Allocation (CRA) has been wiring billions of shilling...

PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA MAY BE DOWN BUT NOT OUT.

Image
P  resident Uhuru Kenyatta rule is coming to an end. Yes!! And the only thing which is standing between him and his retirement is TIME.  As we speak , he is now enjoying temporary incumbency. So fat , we have the president elect in William Ruto but it is yet to be certified because , his opponent Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga will be heading to the Supreme Court to challenge his victory. All in all , there is no Power vacuum that can make make plug into a constitutional crisis. Uhuru Kenyatta is still the Head of State and Government and commander in chief of Kenya Defence Forces. What is disappointing is the way his political bastion decided to punish and humiliate him. The mose interesting thing is , GEMA nation uses emotions to vote. If you don't trigger their emotions , even if you as a presidential candidate can have a very well articulated manifesto that is aimed to improve their social , Economic and political lives , they can't vote for you...

WHY TRAMPLING OF OPPOSITION IS DETRIMENTAL TO FLEDGLING DEMOCRACIES.

Image
F or the last few days , president elect William Samoei Ruto has embarked on a mission to cripple the opposition. In this case , am assuming that , there is no pending Supreme Court battle which Azimio la Umoja brigade is preparing to mount to challenge Ruto's presidential win. In just one day , Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance managed to buy off all the Members of National Assembly (MNAs) who vied on an independent ticket. Majority of this candidate decided to vie vie on an independent candidates after being denied tickets by this big parties. In this case I mean , UDA , ODM or Jubilee Party. By being independent candidates in the August house , they are in a pole position to negotiate for something better for their Constituents without necessarily joining Kenya Kwanza Alliance which at this point are slated to form the next Government. I don't think what informed their decision but it is simple. They believe , everytime we have a President in this Country , when it comes ...

THE JOURNEY AHEAD WON'T BE SMOOTH FOR THE NEXT GOVERNMENT.

T he campaign season has come to an end. Yes!!! After the push and pull whereby , the two presidential candidates, William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja Raila Odinga traversed this Country selling their manifestos and giving a litany of political and economic promises which few of them were tenable while a majority of them weew just populistic in nature aimed at whipping the emotions of ordinary wanjiku (Artisans). As we speak , the coast of living has hit the roof. The prices of essential commodities for household use have become unbearable and a majority of Kenyans are the ones who are skipping some means. That is , one chooses to take break fast , skip the lunch inorder to save some few coins for him to buy supper. This supper is just for keeping them going not for satisfying their bellies.  Kenya's public debt is at 9.8 Trillion and before the President Uhuru Kenyatta dissolved parliament , the Senate increased the debt ceiling to 10 Trillion. Yes!!! ...

WHICH WAY IEBC ; WILL SUPREME COURT NULLIFY THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION?

Image
T   here is no iota of doubt that , the ship , MV IEBC is sinking or to put it well , it has already sank. The Captains are blaming one another for that mishap. The commissioners , Chair Wafula Chebukati , Vice Chair Cherera , CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan , Prof Guliye , Mr Nyagaya , Mrs Masit and a Mr Wanderi are the people who Kenyans have been looking upon to deliver a free , fair and credible elections. Walianza na roho (started with the spirit) on August 9th but finally , wamemalizia na mwili (finished the journey with their flesh). The Supreme Court ruling of the 2027 ordered IEBC to menbd alot of issues in itself so that in future it will end up providing a free, fair and credible elections. Infact before this year's general elections , the CJ Martha Koome and the Supreme Court pronounced itself very clearly that , IEBC should keep the Court's ruling of 2017 close to its chest. When an electoral Commission is not united when discharging very serious and coveted constitut...
