POLITICAL SATIRICAL COMEDY IS WELCOME BUT THIS ONE IS IN BAD TASTE. OVERBOARD!!!!!
P olitical satirical comedy found its way in Kenya during the times of redykulass that used to air at NTV whose crew led by Walter Mong'are , Tony Njuguna and John Kiarie popularly known as KJ illuminated both Carnivore simba saloon and our television sets at home with their rib cracking political satire why thry both mimicked the late Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Moi. Even as they were doing it , they were confining themselves within the confines of the theatre and performing arts laws. That's because, the very people they were mimicking were holding coveted state offices in the Country and doing performances that would place them in bad light was absolutely unethical and breach of the law. Decorum was at the centre of their trade and for of us who got a glimpse of their performances can attest truly , those comrades were professional in their work.
After the end of redykulass , political satirical comedy shifted from theatre to animation an inflection that made it lose mojo in Kenya. The XYZ show had been airing in NTV and it too have been entertaining Kenyans but not in a level redykulass used to do. There was a huge disconnect between actors and their congregation. For XYZ , there was no connection because, the images mimicking political players in Kenya were computer generated using 3D effects. That's why , should the show was entertaining , it failed to attract more viewers because of the time it was taking and lack of prose. XYZ too is no longer airing and now , political satirical comedy died that way until the other day it was resurrected by this guy calling himself KK mwenyewe aka Riggy G , a street name the lady by the name Chelimo christened Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Rigathi gracefully accepted that name and even vowed to meet the lady who gave him that name inorder to reward her for her creativity.
I have no problem with this thespian because we are aware , the current Ukraine President Vlodomyr Zelensky came from theatre as a comic and thespian before he traded his eyes on vying for top seat. What is irking me with this KK Mwenyewe man is that , his political satire shows aren't confining himself within the realms of ethics and professionalism. Truly , he is unleashing content which is colloborating with the character of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua especially in talking. The offense I am criticizing him on is the choice of dress he is using as he mimicks the Deputy President. I know it is not only me who I am feeling offended by his choice of the attire he is using. It is demeaning the character he is mimicking. Rigathi Gachagua. It is bad and I hope , the likes of Tony Njuguna, Walter Mong'are and KJ now Dagoretti South MP can mentor him and tell him that , as far as political satirical comedy is concerned and is fully allowed by the government through the ministry of information and communication , decorum is of essence. His choice of dressing is bad and putting the DP in bad light. That will make him lose mojo with people especially those who passionately supports DP Gachagua. Also , he is painting the office that Gachagua holds in bad light. Those around him and are also engaging themselves in that field like Victor and Eric Omondi should atleast tell him he is going overboard now.
From where I am seated , I believe with our vibrant social media space , DP Gachagua has interacted with the contents produced by this KK Mwenyewe aka Riggy G that are mimicking him on his day to day statements he always gives , some controversial and others hilarious. I don't think he get amused by those videos especially on the kind of glooming the guy uses mimicking him. If it is me , I cannot be happy at all. Let him look into his attire and all will be well but if he continues this way , his performance will be censored and I know he will not be happy. He will riot in the social media to cry foul on how the government is harassing online content creators but if you breach the law , what do you expect? The government will be hard on you. Another thing , Kenyans will get pissed off with his content and put him in a collision path with Gachagua supporters and it won't go down well with him.
I have off late interacted with his content and the thespian is damn creative but again , the dressing is that which is putting me off. He is kind demeaning DP Gachagua and that is not good at all. The kind of attire he is using is reminiscent to the one Gachagua used to wear sometimes back and Kenyans in the social media chidded him and made memes in it but our able DP has improved on his wardrobe. The KK Mwenyewe should also improve his wardrobe too inorder it be in tandem with that of Rigathi Gachagua. It should be that , Gachagua is improving his while that of KK Mwenyewe is becoming pathetic and notorious. Nooo!!! It should not be that way. If it remains so , then , it should be censored and censored with ZERO mercies. Political satirists must use ethical principles doing their work. Let's respect those we are mimicking and uphold the respect of the offices they are holding. Simple!!!
