DP GACHAGUA AND GOVERNOR SAKAJA WAR A SERIOUS DENT ON KENYA KWANZA GOVERNMENT.

 It is now clear that the battle lines between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja have been drawn and each is now going after the other jagular. Both have managed to attract factions who are holding the candle on their behalf behind them. For Governor Sakaja, his Western region political honchos have come to his aid by telling off DP Gachagua to keep off from meddling on Nairobi County politics and concentrate on the politics of his Nyeri County backyard. On the other side , political factions from Nyeri County and not the larger Mt Kenya region have come forward to spiritedly defend DP Gachagua by telling off Sakaja and his Western region kinsmen and women who have been throwing tirades towards the DP and even mooting an impeachment motion against him once Parliament recess is over. The late Nigeria literati Chinua Achebe in his novel , Things fall apart , he opines that things fall apart when the centre cannot hold. So far , the centre in the Kenya Kwanza goverment isn't holding at all. This from afar is a sibling rivalry perpetuated by political supremacy battles.

The battle lines in this war which is now escalating as it gathers more players who want to mill political relevance out of it because to me , it was just a mole hill but now , Mt Everest has been made out of it , is when DP Gachagua while at Dedan Kimathi University slammed the Nairobi County Governor Sakaja for trying to punish the GEMA nation businesses especially in the matatu industry in a bid to decongest the City and give it an international status just like that of Kigali and Dodoma. DP Gachagua looked and sounded bitter and his rebuttal showed it all and he was at pain to hide it. His Kikuyu nationalism sentiments didn't go well with majority of Kenyans across the Country not only those who reside in Nairobi. It is a fact that the GEMA nation threw their political support behind Sakaja during the last year's general elections. They came up in large numbers to vote for him and from their own confessions which always happens during desperate times , that they were doing it to punish Jubilee Party, its candidate Polycarp Igathe and its party leader Uhuru Kenyatta. Did they voted for Sakaja because he had the mettle to deliver as the Governor of Nairobi? And because Nairobi is a cosmopolitan City County, it means the other communities which voted for Sakaja had their own reasons too and maybe one of it is his plan to decongest the central business district (CBD).

The gist of the matter has shifted from what are the best modalities of decongesting  the traffic Nairobi City to supremacy battles. It is a fact the role of the government, whether national or county is to create an enabling business environment so as in return, this business will gracefully pay taxes that will run the affairs of the government but not to make business environment more difficult for them to operate in. Kikuyu community isn't the only one who run this matatu industry in Nairobi. Other communities too gave ventured in this business and the issue of pulling an ethnic card on this sensitive issue was uncalled for. There are better ways of lodging complaints rather that throwing ethnic jibes. I was exasperated when I saw the direction this battle was taking especially the ethnic route. This alone is ment to isolate Kikuyu community from the rest of communities who reside and work in Nairobi. The fact is , Sakaja was elected to serve all the communities in Kenya who reside and visit it for various reasons each day. There is a wind of political contempt between DP Gachagua and the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi billowing over their heads though it hasn't come out clear but if you use 3D , you will clearly see it. In Mt Kenya region , various political factions especially in Nyeri County have come out guns blazing and breathing fire to defend their son DP Gachagua which is fine but in the process, the moment their opened their mouths, did more harm than good. They soiled everything and now , the gun has been turned on the DP. Most of notable political honchos in Mt Kenya region have given this battle a wide berth and reasons are well known as to why they have opted to remain cagey.

Sibling rivalries and political supremacy in coalitions and political parties in Kenya are normal. It is true that DP Gachagua is trying hard and is determined and for sure , he is a man in a mission in his bid to consolidate the Mt Kenya region behind his back , but something we should not forget is , it is a move which don't have blessings from his boss President Ruto. The President ordained himself as the new Mt Kenya region political kingpin sometimes back and no one from the region, including Gachagua himself raised a finger. As at now , it seems he has gone back to default settings and realized that , the oil skin of the house should not be rubbed on the shoulders of the strangers. To consolidate himself both to millennials and the old guards, his moniker name Riggy G and the son of Mau Mau are aimed to blend something of nationalism that will coalesce around him. I have no problem with DP Gachagua leading the Mt Kenya region political kingpinship mantle but he should understand that that status doesn't come that easily. To win the minds and hearts of the GEMA nation is for him to ensure all the promises which were made to the mountaineers are implemented, that is , they should be seen , touched and smelled.  Failure to that , it will be an exercise in futility. Attacks on either Raila Odinga, former President Uhuru Kenyatta or Sakaja or supremacy battles between Mūrang'a and Nyeri won't succeed in rallying the Wanjiku of the mountain behind him. 

Just like Noah of the Bible who took take to build the ark and convinced the people to board it inorder to avoid the coming apocalypse, DP Gachagua should know and understand it requires alot of wisdom from his end to actualize that dream. It is fine but wisdom is required. In his quest, he should not work extremely hard to isolate himself from the rest of kenyans and at the same time isolate Kikuyus too. As a community , we have managed to walk out of that fix that's why, during the presidential elections , both Raila Odinga and William Ruto pitched tent in this region, Campaigned and each got voted for and in this case, William Ruto carried the day. If this Kikuyu nationalism being mooted by DP Gachagua is ment to isolate us from the rest of other communities, then , it is akin to putting new wine in old bottles. It is fatal and unwelcome. Period!!!
