  T rends and Insights for Africa ( TIFA) research firm has just released the presidential opinion poll and Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua SC are leading with 42% while Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto and his estranged running mate Rigathi Gachagua are trailing with 39%. Fine , going by this opinion poll , non of the candidates have gotten the 50%+1 vote but it is understandable that , this is a scientific research poll and with this in mind , we must have the undecided voters. That means , in August 9th , there will be many surprises and the Raila- Martha ticket is likely to carry the day.   D ays , hours , minutes and seconds are melting and as they do that , we are drawing near to the general elections. Though many regions are experiencing cold and chilly weather , the campaign frenzy is rejuvenating our bodies. Political candidates are combing the ground in their quest to hunt for VOTES. Many are giving wanjiku promises of things they will do for her once she elects them. A majority of this candidates are clueless and even don't know what they want. They only want to be recognized that they vied for this and that voteand got elected. Others are saying politics is the best paying job in Kenya.   L eave the Azimio la Umoja of Karua and Raila and kenya Kwanza Alliance of Rigathi and Ruto alone , that's not something that has split the GEMA nation at the middle but there is something else which is making them skeptical and may highly contribute to high voter apathy in the larger Mt Kenya region and in the diaspora. By diaspora I don't mean the mountaineers who are outside Kenya but GEMA nation residents who have settled in various Counties in Kenya. It is true that since the advent of multipartyism , the only time the GEMA nation went in the ballot divided politically is in 1992. W e are exactly 30 days shy to the next general elections. President Uhuru Kenyatta tenure is coming to an end. It has both hits and misses. Infact , he will be going home with his head held high.   J uly 26th this year , Kenyans will be glued to their television sets to follow the proceedings of the much awaited presidential debate which will take place at Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA). It is a debate which will bring together , Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga , Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate Dr William Ruto , Roots Party presidential candidate PROF. George Wajackoyah and Agano Party presidential candidate Waihiga Mwaure. Already , the Country's political mood is that of an election. Kenya is a very political Country and if there is an election Kenyans are eagerly waiting is this of August 2022. For the first time in this Country's history , GEMA nation will not have an outright presidential candidate especially since the inception of pluralism in Kenya back in 1991.   D own the memory lane , a day like today back in 1990 , Kenya's second liberation heroes staged a mega rally at Kamukunji grounds that sent shockwaves, panic and confusion in the KANU regime. President Moi and his acolytes had a very uncomfortable and disturbing day. The whole Security forces were deployed to crack down these politicians and their supporters who turned up to this meeting. There was a heavy cloud of tension and pandemonium which had enveloped the whole of Nairobi City. Even innocent Kenyans who were going on with their usual daily errands found themselves in a fix.   B efore Uhuru Kenyatta declared that he was jostling to vie for the presidential seat , he had 3.5 Million votes from the GEMA nation under his armpits. Ruto had 1.5 million votes in his pocket from his Kalenjin Nation and this is undisputed fact. Even before I proceed further, Ruto should stop hoodwinking the residents of Mt Kenya region and Kenyans at large that he made UHURU KENYATTA the 4th president of the Republic of Kenya.  The two leaders were indicted for serious crimes aganaist humanity at the Hague based Court.
