THE BATTLE OF THE TITANS ; WHO WILL CARRY THE DAY.

Today at exactly 7:59:59:99 pm , all eyes and attention will be directed in Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA). Kenyans will leave the CBD early to beat the traffic. Wanjiku in Gikomba, Muthurwa , Githurai markets will too close his/her business very early inorder , at this time , they will be glued on the television sets. In the podium at CUEA , the moderators , Ktn's news anchor Wananu and NTV's James Smart will be taking on Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party running mate Martha Karua SC and Kenya Kwanza Alliance running mate Rigathi Gachagua. The two will be taking each other by the horns in a do or die debat.  Netizens have started airing their expectations at the end of that debate which will draw its curtains at around 9:30 pm. From my end , I fully understand it will be a debate with will start on a low gear but at the end , it will generate more heat than light. The kind of consternation and pandemonium am expecting at CUEA , I believe medics to check on debaters temperature and blood pressure amid this cold day and evening will be standby.

This two PRESIDENTIAL running mates know each other very well. Both hails from Mt Kenya region. Gachagua comes from Nyeri County , Mathira Constituency , Wamuyoro village while Karua is from Kirinyaga County , Gichugu Constituency , Kîmunye village. But what differentiates them well is that , one was Former KANU regime blue eyed boy , gate keeper , rabble rouser and wheeler dealer while the other was KANU's protagonist , fierce critic and launched lethal political insurgency on President Moi ruke and Government. The two are just like heaven and earth. They are very distinct when it comes to matters integrity , ethics , corruption , human rights , Democracy and also , adherence to the rule of law. On the level of temperament , Gachagua's one is very lethal though Karua too , on this issue of anger , she too has a share on it though not as big as that of Gachagua. Their past history is like an open book. That of Gachagua, Kenyans alludes to it in low tones. It does go well with them especially those who witnessed the despotic and Authoritarian KANU regime in the early 80's and 90's. The question is , will Gachagua own up to the atrocious and henious acts he committed during the KANU regime when he severed as a DO? Today it is a day he must institute closure on this thorny issue. Will he clean up his closet which harbors skeletons that stinks to the high Heavens once his past is brought to the limelight?

As human beings , we are prone to errors. We have seen situations where human beings have committed outrageous , henious and inhumane acts on their fellow humans being but through reconciliation, truth and justice , they forgive one another. A classic example is in Rwanda after the genocide that took place in 1994 where , almost 850,000 lost their lives. For Gachagua , today is a day he must bring that closure. Some of victims who bears physical scars and live psychological and emotional wounds will brave themselves to watch and listen to him. Am trying to figure out what will be going through in their mind at that hour. It wouldn't be something good but , one word from Rigathi will heal all their wouds especially the emotional and psychological ones.

 

On the side of Martha Karua SC , she has vowed that , if Kenyans will give her the mandate to run their affairs in the capacity of the Deputy President and Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs , she will deal ruthlessly , decisively and swiftly with corruption inside the Azimio la Umoja. What she needs to understand and know is Kenyans will be monitoring her closely to see how she will deal with the first scandal that will be executed by top echelon officials in the Azimio la Umoja. Will she sack them and institute Prosecution through anti graft agencies? Also , eyes will be on her to see how she will handle the judiciary.  If corruption allegations will touch on key financiers and campaigners of Azimio la Umoja outfit , what will she go about it? Will there be sacred COWS? This and many questions is what Kenyans are expecting moderators of tonights debate should zero in not asking questions of , are you Njoroge? Are you Wanjiku? 

Rigathi Gachagua has an active corruption case at Milimani Courts. The Assets and Recovery Agency freezed his accounts after he failed to account to a huge collosal amount of monies which were stashed there and the anti graft agencies believes they are proceeds of corruption and Economic crimes. Am waiting to hear from Gachagua how him in the capacity of a Deputy President he will address this draconic issue of corruption that has placed majority of Kenyans on the periphery of life. Kenyans are alive to the fact that , back in 2013 when they teamed up with President Uhuru Kenyatta to vie for the top seat , he had an active court case in the Environment and Land Court where he was accused of grabbing 100 acres from a peasant farmer Adrian Muteshi with a lot of impunity. In 2014 , he lost the case after he was found guilty of the offense and was ordered by the Court to revert the land back to Muteshi and pay reparations. Here comes Gachagua who in September , whether he will win the presidency or not , he will be infront of a judge facing corruption charges.

I urge Kenyans to watch the deputy PRESIDENTIAL debate with an open mind and later form their own informed decisions. So far , a majority of Kenyan voters have decided their preferred presidential candidates. From where am seated , I gave made mine. I will vote for Azimio la Umoja , to you the reader of this article , you too I believe you have made yours. As for the undecided voters , today I hope you will make your final decision. Make one today. Follow the debates with unbiased eye and mind there after make your democratic right and a sober one   Just a will win some hearts for their presidential bid together with his Roots Party presidential candidate Prof George Wajackoyah. On the other hand for Mrs Mutua, she may win some hearts for Agano Party presidential candidate Waihiga Mwaure. For Azimio la Umoja , Martha Karua may lit that outfit star to shin brighter and brighter. For Gachagua , the case is same , she will either elevate Ruto's Presidential bid or nip it in the bud. Period!!!
