MY ANGLE ON THE DEPUTIES PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE BETWEEN RIGATHI AND MARTHA.

 To start with , the deputies presidential debate at CUEA was fine. Yes!! I mean that of Roots Party presidential running mate madam Justina Wamae and Agano Party presidential running mate Ruth Mutua. It was a debate was conducted within the confines of maturity , sobriety , respect , decorum and professionalism. The moderators , KTN News kiswahili anchor Zubeida Koome and Citizen TV senior political reporter Francis Gachuri. Interms of giving the ratings in that debate , Justina performed exemplary well. Her communication skills , eloquence and clarity of thought was epic. On the other hand , her fellow competitor Ruth Mutua was an escapist , defensive and portrayed herself like someone who is highly alienated with the seat she is aspiring to occupy come August 9th if her PRESIDENTIAL candidate Waihiga Mwaure clinches the victory. She portrait herself like someone who is vying for a corporate seat and not a political seat. She was so idealistic and scholarly and that doesn't augur well in politics especially when you are vying for any political seat.

From Ruth , I can guess the kind of presidential debate which will be between Waihiga Mwaure and Prof. George Wajackoyah. If there will be betting in this DEBATE , Kenyans who are wise knows too well where to place their bets. Again , let me congratulate the moderators ( Zubeida and Gachuri). The ensured debaters were well confined within the realm of the debate. The topics raised focused entirely on issues that face Kenyans in the day to day life. There was no instance where , character assassination cropped up. It was a very sober debate that a majority of Kenyans in this Zuckerberg streets praised when they were doing a comparative analysis between that of this sober duos(Justina vs Wamae) with that of Rigathi and Martha Karua. It was horrible , disheartening and nauseating to say the least.

The much awaited debate in the whole of Kenya and East Africa and Central Africa was that of Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential running mate Rigathi and Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party presidential running mate Martha Karua SC. What shocked many is that , it later turned to be the most disappointing. Yes!!! I wonder who the debaters were. Fine , Rigathi was present , Martha too but as the debate went on gathering pace and momentum , choleric feelings and whimsical emotions overcame Rigathi Gachagua. He behaved like someone who was in the mission. In his heart , mind and soul , he had harboured alot of bitterness and vandetta towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family. Each and every question which was thrown at him , he was dragging President Uhuru Kenyatta on it. In some instances , he was feigning that he wasn't capturing the questions moderators, Sophia Wananu ( KTN ) and James Smart ( NTV) were asking him. He was just playing the victim card and playing the Politics of escapism and defensive.

The keenness and attentiveness I employed while following that debate was akin to that of a neurosurgeon in the theatre room conducting a brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor. Even blinking my eyes from my eyes should have been treated with a lot of contempt. Martha Karua was disengaged from the debate after Gachagua forcefully hijacked it and dragged President Uhuru Kenyatta at the centre of it. Now , what would have Karua do? Defend the Uhuru Kenyatta who was mudslinged and character assassinated by the estranged Mathira legislator? Some are nailing Karua for remaining calm in the better part of that debate rather than open a war front with Gachagua who was very ready to moot a pigsty contest with Martha. It backfired on him and the emotional intelligence in Karua carried the day. Just like the ancient Chinese military theorist and strategist who opined that , the supreme art of the war is to annihilate your opponent even without firing a single bullet. That's how Karua won.

UNETHICAL JOURNALISM

Rigathi Gachagua mentioned the name President Uhuru Kenyatta more than 76 times and Ruto's name was mentioned by his running mate less than 3 times. Infact , what I noted , Rigathi has no problem with RAILA ODINGA of Azimio la Umoja. So , if Azimio la Umoja wins , he will comfortably embrace his leadership. He will graciously accept him to be his next Head of State and Government. The Gachagua man was bitter. He implicated President Uhuru Kenyatta for his corruption allegations and his looting and kleptomaniac appetite. That's playing victim inorder to hoodwink gullible followers who can't question his WORDS and statements made sometimes back. Anytime the question of corruption was poses to him , he was quickly evading it and dragged Uhuru Kenyatta as the genesis of his problems. That he is unable to through a party of Nyama choma and porridge to his fellow villagers in his upcountry because President Uhuru Kenyatta freezed his bank account that held 200 Million which he failed to account. 

To all sober Kenyans who watched that debate , they can tell , by removing the name President Uhuru Kenyatta in Gachagua's mind , he is left hollow. Yes!!! On matters integrity and decorum , Martha Karua win many hearts and minds. To those who loves pigsty contest , Rigathi was their hero and he won that DEBATE. Kenyans are left with 19 days to save this Country from going in the hands of cannibalism and uncouth leadership but the choice is entirely in you hands to vote in sober leadership which Martha Karua will be part of. 

In short , there was no debate , yes!!! That's not how a serious DEBATE of such magnitude that involves candidates who want to occupy the most serious and coveted State office. Because I don't beat around the bust or play the proverbial politics of the ostrich where I burry my head into the sand and imagine everything is fine. I take a swipe with the moderators who strangled the journalistic ethics and upheld unprofessionalism. The moderators Sophia Wananu and James Smart failed to moderate the debate to the required standards. The question am asking myself is , how did they allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to be dragged in a debate he wasn't part of? From the rules of Journalism , how can you allow a party to dress , re-dress and undress another person when he/she isn't there to give a reply? Was the debate between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rigathi Gachagua? This two Journalists perfomed below par and behaved in unethical manner. If they are out there bragging to their friends for moderating a deputy presidential debate , tell them to shut up. They bangled it. Period!!!

Mr Gachagua, how much is a litre of kerosene costing? I don't buy things in the supermarket. Alaaaas!!!  Is kerosene sold in the Petrol station or in the supermarket? Even the cost of a litre of milk , he is so alienated with the common man life such that , he doesn't know how much it costs. I thought as a Hustler , he should be well furnished with the price of this two essential commodities. How fake a "hustler" is he? Wait!!! They accuse both Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta that , just because they have never slept hungry in their entire life , they can't resonate with the suffering the common Wanjiku is going through. It was confirmed that , even Gachagua , has never slept hungry. Fact!!!! A whole 1  hour and 30 minutes was wasted on theatrics , innuendos , feelings and vitriolic attacks in the person of the President Uhuru Kenyatta. But I squarely and wholely blame the moderators. They are the genesis of all that problem. Power corrupts and absolute Power corrupts absolutely. As Kenyans and responsible ones , let's not play the dangerous Russian roulette with our lives. Our future and those of our children. Let's unite come August 9th and rescue Kenya. Thanks in Advance.
