AN OPEN LETTER TO MUGURU, RWATHIA AND KANYENYA-INI WARD VOTERS.

First receive my greetings and hope you are doing well and you are ready to go to the ballot and elect your next Members of County Assembly (MCA). From Mugechi Kaboro to Ichichi to Wanjerere , you will be expected to vote in someone who will represent your interests in Mūrang'a County Assembly. I don't know whether you understand the core mandate the Member of the County Assembly perform in as far as linking you to thr County Goverment is concerned. If there is a seat you should be sober while electing the bearer of that office is that of MCA. Don't look at the salary and allowances they get. Don't be blinded by the area of jurisdiction thru cover which is the ward but look at their importance. They are a cog. Thru are the ones who should ensure that , the many billions Mūrang'a County Goverment receives from the treasury improves your living standards.

Dear the voter , have you ever asked yourself the role of the County Goverment? Why is is there in the first place and what was in tht mind of the framers of the 2010 constitution. The aim of Devolution was to bring services close to you whereby , before the advent of County Governments , power and resources were in the hands of the National Government. If you elect a wrong person to handle that office , you will have yourself to blame. That's why sobriety is the key in this sense. Don't be hoodwinked by the political parties euphoria. For for the personal who possesses the bet character traits and someone who is knowledgeable and witty to transact business in the assembly will much professionalism and sobriety.

There is something that is factual and it demonstrated itself back in 2017. During the Jubilee Party primaries in Rwathia and Kanyenya-ini wards , Mr Gatitu and Mr Manyota  of both Kanyenya-ini and Rwathia respectively clinched the Jubilee Party tickets. Residents there went back to factory settings and realized that , the party euphoria was about to mislead them. Between the period when nominations were completed and general elections made the tables to turn upside down. In Rwathia Ward , Hon Mweri who had lost in the primaries clinched the seat. In Kanyenya-ini ward too , Hon Kongo clinched the seat .What am so trying to say , it seems Rwathia and Kanyenya-ini wards residents didn't allow party euphoria to clog their minds. They looked at the individuals leadership with qualities. That's what am expecting to be replicated again come 9th August.

To the residents of Muguru Ward , they elected a Jubilee Party candidate who both won in the primaries and ended up winning the general elections. Much was expected from him and wanjiku of Muguru but she felt that the MCA they elected below their expectations. Though the party euphoria someone worked for him back in 2017 , he battled a spirited fight from Mr Bernard Mbuki who was vying on an independent candidate after losing in the party primaries. Infact , Ngundo survived politically by a whisker. History was about to be made where , all the 3 MCA candidates who won during the Jubilee Party primaries all losing in tht general elections. All MCAs would be independent candidates. That matrix was altered in Muguru ward.

Dear Wanjiku , all the gubernatorial candidates eyeing seat have all promised to role out Ward Development Fund (WDF) inorder to enable the MCAs to have a kitty that will aid them to role out development projects as stipulated by the County Goverment act. The role of the MCA is to legislate and oversight. The County Goverment must be oversighted by MCAs who are sober devoid of their relationship with the Governor. We don't want to have a scenerio we have experienced in Mūrang'a County for the last 10 years by, all the 35 MCAs in the County were caged by the Governor.

Most of the MCAs who conducted their duties diligently in ensuring that Wanjiku gets what she deserves from her County Goverment were politically targeted and persecuted. This time round , to ensure that your MCA will have an easy time as he/she represent your interests in the County Assembly , elect too a sober Governor. The relationship between a MCA and a Governor is like that of a driver and a conductor. At the national government , the senator is there to ensure that , Devolution is fully operational. 

So , as you go to the ballot , don't be blinded by the party popularity. It is not the party which will solve your problems but the leader you will vote in. If you elect an inept , mediocre and clueless MCA , don't expect any change.You will have yourselves to blame. It is that simple. Let's be vigilant. Let's know the person you will vote for. Take a good audit on the persona of that candidate you feel is best to transact and represent your interests. Leadership quality should be your yardstick not sympathy. Political issues aren't religious activities or beliefs. Just vote in for a leader who is capable of understanding with ease the operations of County Government and Assembly. Hope you will do so.
