HOW DO DICTATORS COME TO POWER IN A DEMOCRACY.

 Over the last two centuries , democracy has become the most common type of government across the World. It has arguably become the dominant form of politics. More than half of the countries on earth are democracies. A modern democracy as opposed to the pure direct democracy such as that of ancient Athens in Greece , is a form of government in which the general population has a right to vote and participate in politics by electing political representatives to act on their behalf.

In a country where there is political radicalization and social desperation , political elites with veiled dictatorial characters tend to emerge. They coin slogans that are aimed at pitting one social strata aganaist the other. For example , DP Ruto coined the hustler vs dynasty narrative. This is a Marxist- Lennist concept aimed at whipping the emotions of hoi polloi by brainwashing them that , they are poor because those in the upper echelons of social strata have robbed from them. This makes the voters to use emotions by voting in dictators who will in return turn against them.

A democracy can fall when a country's political elites first grab power via democratic means , before then stripping away democratic rights. This elites do this when they feel that democracy no longer "works" for them. This elites feels that , losing an election may mean forfeiting the power and influence they have over the rest in the Country. This is where Kenya Kwanza Alliance want to take Kenya. They are worse and they should not be allowed to come near Power.  They are using populistic slogans and narratives inorder to trap Kenyans who aren't keen on interrogating issues.

Germany's descent into Nazism is one of history's most evocative examples of Democratic collapse. In 1919 , after the end of World War 1 , Germany was defeated , its monarchy ousted and a republican democracy was formedin its place. This young republic had a highly innovative constitution that , for thr first time in German history , granted all Germans broad represention and the universal right to vote.

Eventually , the young republic was plagued by a series of problems that made Germany to collapse Economically. The Entente powers ( UK and France) through the humiliating treaty of Versailles that forced Germany to pay massive indemnities to the Entente powers. This left Germany demoralized especially Economically. Amidst this confusion , a fringe group slowly came up with promises of mending the wrongs. This is where Adolf Hitler came into picture. And because he whipped the emotions of Germans who were going through hard Economic hardships , they easily fell into the hands of Hitler. 

In 1932 , the Nazis were elected to become the leading party of the German Parliament campaigning on the promise to restore German greatness by taking revenge on Britain and France for the treaty of Versailles. The following year , an arsonist attempted to burn the German Parliament building which Hitler and his Nazi party used as a scape goatto seize full dictatorial control of Germany.

Over the next 12 years , they entirely dismantled the Democratic political establishment ; Instituted the worst genocide in human history , the Holocaust and started the bloodiest war humankind has ever experienced , World War II. The fall of Germany's first democracy shows us the serious consequences when any country loses thr the DEMOCRACY.

That kind of populism that Hitler used is what Kenya Kwanza Alliance wants to use. They are riding on the the Country's economic meltdown to whip the emotions of Kenyans. They are in position of leadership but instead of pointing out problems and offer solutions , they are just pointing out problems but implicate the government for orchestrating those problems. That is Political conmanship and thuggery.

Just like Hitler , under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance , all the Democratic gains Kenya has been enjoying since the advent of pluralism will be strangled to death bearing in mind , Ruto was among the people who persecuted second liberation heroes. The Democratic ideals he masquerades to hold are just cosmetic. In him , he doesn't believe in them. He is reading the " little red book" of Mao Zedong that President Moi gave him back in the days when their friendship was at the peak. Let's be wise.
