HOW THE EXIT OF HON KIGANO WILL SHAPE KANGEMA PARLIAMENTARY CONTEST?
It is now clear that Hon Muturi Kigano CBS , MP Kangema and Chair JLAC will not in the ballot come August 9th to defend his seat either on a Jubilee Party ticker or as an independent candidate. His eyes are not trading in National Politics. His supporters have been waiting for him to give the political directions especiallyon Kangema parliamentary seat but he has decided to take another direction. The direction he has taken was communicated yesterday in Kangema Empowerment Hall where hundreds of parents , guardians and education stakeholders had convened there to pick Kangema NG CDF bursary cheques.
Hon Kigano was not present since he wasn't feeling well after a week long tour of US , where his Justice and Legal Affairs Committee ( JLAC) was there for official duties. Residents who where in Kangema Empowerment Hall were heavily expectant on the political direction Hon Kigano would want them to take now that Jubilee Party in its prerogative issued the CERTIFICATE to Hon George Kibuku. They felt shortchanged. In their thinking , they feel it would be just for Hon Kigano to lose at the ballot and not in a boardroom. Since that is past us now , they wanted him to give them the way forward. In a communique which he had sent through his Constituency Manager , he categorically said that , he will not endorse anyone. It is in their descretion to elect the person they feel will work for them and represent their interests in the 13th Parliament.
So far , Kangema Parliamentary seat has attracted the following aspirants ; George Kibuku ( Jubilee Party) , Simon Karema ( TSP) , Juliah Chege ( DP) , Dr Duncan Githiga ( CRP) , Milka Kamau ( Independent) and Peter Kihungi ( UDA). So far , the contest is kind narrowing down between Kibuku and Kihungi. In this Zuckerberg streets and on the ground , their supporters are kind going after each other jagular. Am ain't saying the other aspirants are inconsequential in as far as the contest is concerned but the truth is , the local politics are being shaped by the national politics which is between Azimio la Umoja and Kenyaa Kwanza Alliance.
With Hon Kigano telling his supporters to do a serious soul searching ( Uteuzi wa moyo) , the contest is now open for anyone to win , what will matter at this point in time is strategies and the power of persuasion. As I have posited , national politics will play a very vital role. In that hall yesterday , there were more than 500 people who were drawn from all the sub locations in Kangema. Now thst hon Kigano didn't give them a particular political direction to follow , the conversation after those people retreated to their homes will shape the Kangema parliamentary contest drastically. Those who have been following Kangema parliamentary seat contest since the demise of the late Hon John Michuki resonates well with what am putting forward.
Those who were present yesterday , the biggest composition was that of organic voters. This are people who , you can't tilt their Political believes and decisions using monetary persuasion. This are people you need to talk to by bringing forward your manifesto which they will scrutinize it and see where it is tallying with their expectations. Fact!!! Now , this are the people who were told to go and make their own political decisions. For those aspirants eyeing Kangema parliamentary seat , whoever will manage to win their hearts and minds , will smile all the way to the August house after 9th August. By Hon Muturi Kigano failing to decide for them in which direction to follow is because , he failed to answer to them the question of what happened? Why didn't the Jubilee Party failed to conduct Nominations? This and many more questions were bombarded on him. How could he have provided the answer? Even if it is me in that situation ,I would have done what Hon Kigano did. Period!!!!
He is exiting Kangema parliamentary seat with his head held high. He has off course left behind indelible marks in many projects he has roled out since 2017 when he took over they NG CDF office. It is upon wanjiku of Kangema to make wise decisions before settling on the person they want to be their next Member of the National Assembly. We are looking forward to see an issue based campaign in Kangema that will zero in on what aspirants will offer to Kangema residents better than him. Instead of personalized attacks and innuendos that doesn't add value between various camp holding brief for their bosses , let's not stoop that low. Let's mature up and tell wanjiku who is expectant on leaders giving her solutions to the problems facing her instead of leaders pointing up problems and offering ZERO solutions. Make wise decisions. And remember choices have consequences.
