KARUA MARTHA WANGARI, THE IRON LADY.
As time is melting down , the deadline set by th Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IBEC) for the presidential aspirants to name their running mates. The tension is in Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance coalition party. In Kenya Kwanza Alliance , DP Ruto was expected to name his running mate today. He failed yet he has been bragging how the naming of his running mate is just a storm in a cup of tea. Today , he has come to a realization that , the country cannot be bestowed to someone who take delicate issues that casually. In Mathira Constituency , tension as we speak is very high. What will happen if Ruto fails to pick Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate? In Chuka , Tharaka Nithi County , elders , women , men and children were anxiously waiting for their son Prof. Kithure Kindiki to be picked as his running mate.
In Azimio la Umoja , there is no doubt that Hon Martha Karua is thr best bet. From every corner I walk and meet wanjiku engaging in national politics , she is mentioning Martha prominently. Wanjiku believes in her. She is thr person best fit for that coveted job. I hope Hon Martha cannot make a Deputy President like William Ruto. Someone who didn't know his space. He wanted all the time to compete with his boss. A deputy president is the principal assistant to the president. Fact!!! He isn't a co-president the way Ruto has been making it look. His untamed and unbridled avarice for power is what made him fall out with his boss. He has been obsessed with clinching power , not to advance thr course of his boss in nation building but to clamp some leaders , their businesses and ethnic communities as a whole.
The best person to hold that seat as we move forward is the iron lady Hon Martha Karua SC. A remnant of second liberation heroes. A staunch believer of her principles and phylosophy. This country deserves a running mate who understands his/her roles. I have been asking , can president William Ruto stomach a Deputy President like William Ruto? Sad!!! The daughter of Gichugu Constituency is best poled to be picked by Raila Odinga. She is rating at 41% followed at a distant by Kalonzo Musyoka. Let me spare the percentage. The fact is , even out opponents in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance are fearing Martha being picked by Tinga. They have been in the better part of last week rooting for Kalonzo Musyoka to be picked. They have been acting the devil's advocate role with a sinister motive. Not in good faith but just hypothetical.
Hon Martha Karua SC knows William Ruto very well. During the Serena peace talks back in 2008 , the eminent personalities who were leading the mediation talks which were captained by the late Koffi Annan , Ruto was playing hunky pramkum games with a very sensitive matter. Everytime a solution was to be arrived and all parties were contented , Ruto would raise an issue which took back the talks to square one. The aim of this was to buy time so that ethnic cleansing to continue unabated in Rift Valley province especially in Uasin Gishu. It is Martha Karua who unravelled that trick and war of words brewed between Martha Karua and William Ruto. The late Tanzania former President Benjamin Mkapa captured it very well in his autography. The panel had no choice but to kick out both Karua and Ruto out of the talks. But from their end , the were too sure it is Ruto who was aganaist a solution not to be found. He couldn't believe non-locals will continue holding the land Ruto and his kinsmen believed belongs to them. Sad!! This is someone who will take Kenya back and it is not wise to do that.
