WHY ETHNICITY WILL ALWAYS BE AT THE CENTRE OF KENYA'S POLITICS?

Kenya is an a sovereign State made up of different ethnic nations. Yes!!! There is a very a different between a sovereign State and an ethnic nation. Kenya , being a sovereign State is defined by it having international boundaries , a standing Army to defend it from external aggression. It is also a Member of UN which has recognized it as a Sovereign State. In Somalia for instance , we have States like Puntland and Somaliland. From layman point of view , they can easily be defined as States but they aren't. They aren't recognized by UN and other sovereign States.

As a nation State , Kenya is made up of almost 50 ethnic communities each with their own social , Economic and political orientation. That is , different cultures , languages and traditions. This ethnic nations sits on a land called KENYA. And because they share differents aspects , they tend to be in conflict with one another. Fact!!! When it comes to sharing of resources , this is where hell breaks loose. Ethnic superiority comes in. One ethnic community tries very hard to get States Power through forming the government. They do that not first to address the problems , social , Economic , cultural  and political bedevilling the who Country and its people but to "eat" and share resources amongst themselves.

It is cognizance to note that all this problems of ethnic jingoism were inherited from the colonial government. It is them who zoned communities into certain fiefdoms do that they govern with no much pressure. Through this , they were inciting this very ethnic nations to fight amongst themselves. When Kenya got independence back in 1963 , the first independent government under the late President Jomo Kenyatta did not nip that problem in tht bud but rather entrenched it even deeper in his administration. Fact!!!

In the current political sphere , the issue of ethnicity being entwined with our Country's political is very rife. Ethnic balkanization is the way to go. Zero ideologies or manifestos during Presidential campaigns. You must incite one ethnic community against the other inorder to whip the emotions of your kinsmen. You must profile their leaders and the entire community , demonize and bastardize them as much as you can . Sad!!!

The issue of ethnicity taking a centre stage in the presidential elections is waning because , the GEMA nation doesn't have a clear and a front runner presidential candidate since 1992. However much Ruto might try to incite the Kikuyus aganaist the Luos , this trick won't sell this time round. Reason?? The Kalenjin Nation also has a blemish against the GEMA nation as a whole. For those who have been following politics 101 in Kenya , you can note they Mt Kenya region is torn between Kenya Kwanza Alliance led by DP Ruto and Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance led by Raila Odinga.

This has made the tension that always develops Everytime the election in near to reduce drastically. If they are people who suffers big during Post Election Violence (PEV) is GEMA nation. That's why , just like a man selling eggs in the market is expected not to start a fight because of the susceptibility of the products he is selling , that's the same thing GEMA nation expexts after 9th August. That there will be peace that surpasses any human understanding. Though from a distance , politicians are trying hard to introduce an ethnic card as they try to woo voters. Savage!!

It hope against hope that , there will be no post election violence and after the results , the president candidate who will feel that his victory was stolen , they will use proper legal channels to seek redress.
