WHY KANGEMA PARLIAMENTARY CONTEST WILL BE WORTH WATCHING?
With less than 100 days shy to the August 9th general elections , wanjiku of Kangema will be heading to the ballot to elect her leaders who will serve her for the next 5 years. From the MCA all the way to the presidential slot. With this time wanjiku be confused by the party euphoria like she did back in 2017 general elections or this time round she will put aside her feelings and emotions and use reason to make her decisions?
Allow me to ventilate on Kangema Parliamentary seat. So far , the incumbent Hon Muturi Kigano will not be in the ballot. Yes!!! He is down but not out. So far , the seat has attracted the following contestants:
1.Hon George Kibuku ( Jubilee Party)
2. Hon Peter Kihungi ( UDA)
3. Hon Simon Karema ( TSP)
4. Hon Duncan Githiga ( CRP)
5. Hon Juliah Chege ( DP)
6. Hon Milka Kamau ( Independent)
Kangema has 3 wards and the most interesting thing is , only Kibuku and Milka Kamau comes from Muguru ward. The rest come from both Rwathia and Kanyenya-ini wards. The voting matrices , combinations and permutations will dictate who will be the next Member of Parliament for Kangema. Strategies will be the key not necessarily the financial muscles. During the UDA nominations in Kangema , this issue of using monetary might was thrown under the bus. Fact!!!
The other day at Thika Greens were UDA aspirants convened MÅ«rang'a chapter , Johnson Mukuha pledged to throw his weight behind Peter Kihungi who is flying the UDA ticket. Whether that promise will be actualized only time will tell. On the other hand , Hon Muturi Kigano , CBS has remained cagey on his next move especially the Kangema parliamentary politics. His silent has not only caused confusion but it has left many tongues wagging. Many of his supporters are just feigning a wry smile on their faces. They are waiting for him to give them directions. The question is , will he ( Hon Kigano) give them directions or he will just chicken out and leave them to make their own decisions?
The North-South factor will be at play. It played back in 2017 during the Jubilee Party nominations. Even now , I can't rule that factor out. So far , wanjiku of Kangema is vowing that she won't vote for a party but an individual. From this end , methinks this should be the right direction to take. The six piece suit won't see the light of the day this time round. Fact!! How aspirants will convince Wanjiku. Resonate with her. Persuade her with tangible promises and not necessarily monetary persuasion will determine who will carry the day.
